The founder of The Racers’ Group GT team, Kevin Buckler’s main profession is as a Californian wine maker. His Adobe Road Winery operates in the state’s Southern Sonoma and Napa Valley regions.
A local racer since the late 1980s, Buckler formed TRG in 1992 three years before his own graduation to professional racing. The team established itself in the GT class of the American Le Mans Series with the first Porsche 996 GT3-R available in America.
Class wins at Daytona and Le Mans
A class win at the 2002 Daytona 24 Hours was achieved with Michael Schrom, Timo Bernhard and Jörg Bergmeister, and Buckler repeated that feat at Le Mans later that year. He finished third overall in both the ALMS and Grand-Am GT standings.
Outright victory in the 2003 Daytona 24 Hours
The Racers’ Group GT crew led the last 18 hours of the 2003 Daytona 24 Hours to clinch a rare victory for a GT car and hand Buckler the highest profile race win of his career. His own involvement as a driver reduced as the decade drew to a close but the team expanded into NASCAR’s Sprint Cup in 2009.
