Campagnano di Roma, Lazio

Originally a tiny dirt oval that was paved in 1957, Vallelunga was extended with a loop through a newly blasted cutting in 1963 and further modernised eight years later. The highlight was the Rome Grand Prix, which eventually became a Formula 2 and then F3000 round. But the circuit fell into dispute with the FIA and slipped from the calendar during the 1990s. Vallelunga returned to the international scene with a round of the European Le Mans Series in 2001, but the race attracted a small field of cars and few spectators. The circuit was further extended in 2006 and held a round of the European Formula 3 Championship in 2013.
