TI Circuit-Aida

Aida, Honshu Island

Tanaka International (TI) was designed as an exclusive club where Japan’s elite could drive Grand Prix cars. And in 1994 and 1995 it held Japan’s second Formula 1 race, the Pacific Grand Prix. Although the circuit’s location is inaccessible, the race was a success, with nearly 100,000 spectators attending the inaugural event. The track itself is tight and narrow and after Michael Schumacher had won his second race in as many years, the circuit returned to concentrating on local events. It was renamed Okayama International Circuit for the 2005 season and it continues to host Japan’s national championships.
