The Sanair SuperSpeedway is a strange short tri-oval which briefly held a round of the Champ Car World Series at the behest of the Molson brewery. The dragstrip dates back to 1970 and the 0.826-mile speedway was added in 1983. Rick Mears severely injured his legs here when he crashed during the inaugural race a year later. Although the circuit was smooth, it was far too tight for such powerful open wheel cars and Molson switched its sponsorship from Sanair to a new race in Toronto. The dragstrip is now used more often and snowmobile races are held in the winter.
