This was an unusually fast "round-the-houses" circuit with wide straights and fast, open corners that was set in Barcelona’s western suburbs. Pedralbes held the final Grand Prix of 1951 when a poor tyre choice by Ferrari handed Juan Manuel Fangio his first championship. The race returned three years later with Mike Hawthorn scoring his second victory. However, the circuit closed after the Le Mans disaster of 1955.
