Norisring

The Norisring is a simple temporary circuit situated on the grounds of Adolf Hitler's Nüremberg rallies of the 1930s. The track passes either side of the imposing concrete grandstands, which hold 40,000 spectators. The Norisring original took its name from the ancient word for Nüremberg (Noris) to avoid confusion with the more famous Nürburgring. A 200-mile race with healthy prize money was held here from 1967, an event that claimed the life of Pedro Rodríguez in 1971. Then part of the German Racing Championship, it has held a round of the DTM touring car series in recent years.
