With 72,000 seats, the Kansas Speedway was the state’s largest tourist attraction when it opened in 2001. A sister-track to Chicagoland, the 15 degree banked tri-oval held both NASCAR Cup and Indy Racing League races in its first season. Floodlights were installed in 2011 and the speedway was completely redeveloped a year later with steeper, variable banking in the turns. Also new for 2012 was the infield road course and a casino that now overlooks Turn 2.
